Program for the Conference in Skálholt 1.-4. november 2021


MAIN THEME:

Artic Liturgy – Today and tomorrow

Arktisk Liturgi i dag og i morgen.

We will explore from the roots of Christianity in Iceland the today’s liturgy and our liturgy for the future. The challenge and joy of living in the nordic countries and the arctic inculturation in worship.


Monday 1. November

Arrival of the participants to Reykjavik during the day.

Flybus goes from Keflavik Airport to Bus Terminal BSÍ. Walking distance to Hallgrímskirkja 8-10 minutes. Luggage can be stored at Hallgrimskirkja.

17.00 - Opening of Leitourgia 2021

Welcoming speech  and a short concert

17.40 – Bus (with luggage) from the church to Bergstadastræti 75.

Invitaion and dinner by Bishop Agnes M. Sigurðardóttir

20.00 Bus to Skalholt. (1.5hrs drive). Accommodation there.


Tuesday 2. November

From 08 – Breakfast

09.00 Morning prayer in Skálholtskirkja

09.30 Lecture and discussion (1.15 hrs) - Professor Marion Grau NO

10.45 – Coffee break

11.00 Seminar groups (2 hrs)

13.00- Lunch

14.00 Sight seeing; A walk through Skálholt Site and Church

15.30 - Coffee-time

16.15 – 2 shorter Lectures and discussion (1.5 hrs)  Árni Heimir Ingólfsson, musicologist, Pétur G. Markan, the bishop‘s secretary

17.45 – a short break

18.00-19.00 – Årsmöte

19.30 – Dinner

20.30 – Concert in Skálholtskirkja, Organist Jón Bjarnason and the Choir of Skalholt Church

21.15 – Completorium in Church

21.30 – Program finished. Time for get-together /relaxing.


Wednesday 3. November

From 07.30 – Breakfast

08.30 Morning prayer in Skálholtskirkja

09.00 Lecture and discussion (1.15 hrs) - Professor Solveig Anna Bóasdóttir.

10.15 – Coffee break

10.30 Seminar groups (1.5 hrs)

12.00 – Bus to Friðheimar Green house; Introduction and Lunch.

13.30 – Bus to Þingvellir

14.15 Arrival Þingvellir – greetings from The Head of the National Park, Einar Sæmundsen

14.30 – a short lecture (Þingvellir, Liturgy of the history, Pilgrimage)

15.00 – walk through the old Parliament site to Þingvallakirkja,

15.45 – a short service with Holy communion, Bishop Kristján Valur Ingólfsson and Elínborg Sturludóttir

16.30 - Bus to Secret Lagoon(1 hrs drive)– Relaxing bath   ( sandwich&juice in bus)

19.15 – Departure from Secret Lagoon (15 min.drive)

20.00 – Festive Dinner with entertainments.


Thursday 4. November

From 08 – Breakfast

09.30 – Lecture and discussion (1.15 hrs) - Professor Sigríður Guðmarsdóttir

10.45 – coffee break

11.00- 13.00 – Seminar groups (2.00 hrs)

13.00 – Lunch and Finale.
